Dartmouth alumna Louise Erdrich ’76 gained the distinguished award this year for her novel LaRose, “the story of an accidental shooting—and the fraught tale of family and reparation that follows,” stories NPR. A project that created 1,500 photographs, taken by University of Canterbury student photographers over five years, has resulted in a brand new exhibition that captures and celebrates the extraordinary in the strange. An award-winning University of Canterbury music student might be joined on stage by his mentor and professor after they tour the nation with a new show over the following few weeks. Opening in Women’s Suffrage week, a particular exhibition titled ‘Margaret Stoddart, Garden Scene’ is highlighting the connection between Canterbury artist Margaret Stoddart and well-known suffragist Kate Sheppard.
